The roots of our church in Sparta go back to 1799. After a structure built in 1805 burned in 1910, our standing sanctuary was constructed and completed in 1934.
Our beloved sanctuary and main building have served generations of faithful Methodists and many visitors. Through the years, the Church has seen construction of the Annex and several facelifts to the interior and exterior of the main building…..painting, heating & air, audio & visual electronics, rooftop, etc. However, one very important operational need has not been addressed since the building was constructed…..the whole electrical system throughout the building.
We thank the Lord that He has protected Pierce Memorial from fire. We can’t keep ignoring the need to have the main building completely rewired for safety.
The Trustees and Church Board have unanimously agreed to tackle this project that will not replace the old faulty wiring, but install all new wiring….service boxes, outlets, lights, etc. The old wiring will be disconnected and the inner walls will not be disturbed.
The Trustees met with three certified and well-known electricians seeking advice and quotes to rewire the Church. Estimates ranged from “just under $100,000 to possibly $125,000”. Because the project is a big undertaking that could result in unforeseen hurdles, our quotes were understandably estimates. We do know that this will be a costly project falling in the $100,000 range.
Any donation offered will be strictly directed to this project. For additional information, call the Church office at 706-444-5108. Thank you for your attention to this letter and your continued support of our Church, Pierce Memorial Methodist.
The sanctuary will be open and available for you to come and pray every Thursday from 4:30 pm until 6 pm. It will also be open on the day of our monthly Filling Station starting at 5 pm. Come and spend time in prayer in the quiet and serenity of the church sanctuary.
